Oprah was born in rural Mississippi to a barber father and a mother who was a maid. She later moved to the inner-city Milwaukee. Oprah was sexually abused when she was young.
She was the first and youngest African-American anchor for WTVF-TV in Nashville when she was in college in 1976.
She became the anchor for the “A,M. Chicago” which was later renamed “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” in 1985. She hosted the popular international talk show for the next 27 years. She won many Emmy Award for the Best Talk Show.

Now, among their porjects, the foundation has been building schools and supplying educational and school uniforms, shoes and stationeries supplies to South African children, helping those whose home were destroyed the hurricane in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.
